Second Grade I began my teaching
career in 2004 at Deer Creek Elementary School
teaching 1st grade. After two successful years at
D.C.E.S., I am so excited to be a part of Rose
Union!
In 2003 I graduated from the
University of Central Oklahoma with a B.S. in Early
Childhood Education. Upon graduating, I was honored
with the Dr. Mari Scott award for outstanding
undergraduate in the field of Early Childhood. I am
currently back at U.C.O. working on my graduate
degree in Early Childhood Education. It’s what I
love!
Teaching young children is a gift
that I am thankful for each day. My practice is
theory as well as research based; focusing on
students’ cognitive, social, and emotional
development. I love discovering new ways to
motivate students, helping them to establish a
life-long love of learning.
Being a member of and involved
with professional organizations such as the National
Association for the Education of Young Children and
U.C.O.’s Early Childhood Advisory Committee helps me
to maintain, develop, and continue learning current
theory and practice in the ever evolving field of
education. In the past year I was invited to be a
part of Oxford University’s round table discussions
concerning education. I plan on pursuing National
Board Certification very soon.
When not at/in school, I enjoy
spending time with my husband of six years and our
daughter (who will be a D.C. Antler next year!).
Shopping, reading, and traveling the world are some
of my favorite recreational activities.
I am looking forward to a
wonderful year with all of our Deer Creek families!
