Becca
Pappas
Reading Specialist Hi, my
name is Becca Pappas and I am the PASSPORT program’s
reading teacher at Rose Union Elementary. I was
born and raised in the Oklahoma City metro area and
consider Oklahoma a great place to live even when
travels have taken me to Europe, the Caribbean, and
all throughout the United States. After completing
Putnam City High School, I attended the University
of Central Oklahoma where I graduated with honors
and earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary
Education and a Master of Education in Reading
Specialty. In addition to my college training, I
have educational training in programs such as
Literacy First, Reading First, Great Expectations,
and Schools Attuned.
I have had the honor of
working for Deer Creek Public Schools for the past
six years teaching at both Deer Creek Elementary (5th
grade) and Prairie Vale Elementary (2nd
grade and as a reading specialist). After school I
enjoy reading, swimming, all types of dancing,
watching movies and playing with my nieces and
nephews and my doggie Winn-Dixie (named for the Kate
DiCamillo book not the grocery store).
I am looking forward to an exciting inaugural school
year here at Rose Union Elementary School, and I am
thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with
all Rose Union students. It is my goal not only
teach basic reading skills, but to also develop in
children a love of knowledge that will encourage
them to be lifelong learners.
