Becca Pappas
Reading Specialist

Hi, my name is Becca Pappas and I am the PASSPORT program’s Reading Specialist at Rose Union Elementary.  I was born and raised in the Oklahoma City metro area and consider Oklahoma a great place to live even when travels have taken me to Europe, the Bahamas, and all throughout the United States.  After completing Putnam City High School, I attended the University of Central Oklahoma where I graduated with honors and earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Reading Specialty. In addition to my college training, I have educational training in programs such as Literacy First, Reading First, DIBELS for trainers, Great Expectations, and Schools Attuned. In 2008, I was named one of Edmond Gazette’s “People to Know”.

I have had the honor of working for Deer Creek Public Schools for the past several years teaching at Deer Creek Elementary (5th grade), Prairie Vale Elementary (2nd grade and as a Reading Specialist), and have been Rose Union’s Reading Specialist since the school opened in 2006.

After school I enjoy reading, swimming, knitting, all types of dancing, watching movies, cheering on the Sooner football team, playing with my niece, nephews and my doggies Josie and Ruby.

I am looking forward to an exciting school year filled with learning, and I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with all Rose Union students.  It is my goal to not only teach basic reading skills, but to also develop in children a love of knowledge that will encourage them to be lifelong learners.
