Julie
Thornton
Second Grade
Mrs. Julie Thornton comes to Rose Union with a
B.A. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma
Baptist University, M.Ed. in Early Childhood
from the University of Oklahoma, and is
Nationally Board Certified in Early Childhood
Education.
She began her teaching career in Norman Public
Schools in 1992 teaching 1st grade and 2nd
grades at Lincoln Elementary and Roosevelt
Elementary for a total of 14 years. This year
marks her 16th year in Education.
Mrs. Thornton’s instruction and practices in the
classroom are grounded and based on current
research-based findings, theories, and works of
Early Childhood figures John Dewey, Jean Piaget
and Lev Vygotsky. She is also involved in a
variety of professional organizations including
Oklahoma Council of Teachers of Mathematics,
National Association for the Education of Young
Children, and PTA. She currently serves on the
Board of Directors as Vice President for
Elementary for Oklahoma Council of Teachers of
Mathematics. Julie is also a trustee for the
Deer Creek Public Schools Foundation.
