Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is an
organization started by a father, Jim Moore, who was
concerned by the Jonesboro, Arkansas school violence
incident. His goal was to encourage fathers to
be a visible part of schools by offering dads a
productive role as a school volunteer. Dads
are encouraged to volunteer one day per year, month,
or week...whatever their work schedules allow.
Dads are asked to have a $25 ackground check before
signing up as a volunteer. Some of the ways
they might help include:
Assisting with traffic, monitor hallways and
entrances, assist at lunchtime and recess, read to
students, work with small groups of students, mentor
students, or any other additional need that may
arise.
